The grocery chain H-E-B based in San Antonio is planning to spend $20 million on renovating its long-time store in Angleton, Texas, as part of its continuous efforts to modernize its existing supermarket locations throughout the state.
As shown in a document submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the project will include renovations to about 27,122 square feet of the H-E-B property located at 1239 E. Mulberry Street in Angleton, which is south of Houston.
The supermarket, which was first opened in 1991, has been serving the community for over thirty years. The intended investment will involve a major improvement to the present property, even though H-E-B has not yet made public the exact details of the improvements.
Earlier remodeling work carried out by H-E-B has involved improving the offices, the restrooms, the refrigeration systems and expanding the premises. The company is also intending to carry out at another store in Tomball a renovation and expansion costing similarly much at $20 million.
State records show that construction at the Angleton site is expected to start in May 2027 and be completed tentatively by January 2028.
The project shows H-E-B’s ongoing commitment to its Texas grocery network and illustrates the company’s emphasis on both maintaining and improving its existing stores and also on carrying out new retail developments.
