Tesla is set to hold an event in Waco, Texas, on October 1, 2026, at which it will reveal its second-generation Roadster, the car having been first shown as a prototype nearly nine years earlier.
The company generated new excitement by putting up a countdown on its website and posting a “Go for launch” teaser which included the date “10.01”. This announcement is the most recent achievement for a car that was first launched in 2017 and had originally been expected to go into production in 2020.
It is said that invitations have been issued to those who reserved early Roadster vehicles for the Waco event. People are required to respond to the invitations by September 16, attendees have to be at least 21 years old, and the invitations are reportedly not transferable. Waco is situated approximately 90 minutes north of Tesla’s headquarters in the Austin area and is near SpaceX’s rocket engine testing facility in McGregor.
The teaser has once again stirred up guesses concerning one of the Roadster’s most unusual proposed features. Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, has already talked about a special version of the car which incorporates cold-gas thrusters developed in association with technology from SpaceX. Because of the launch-themed images, some media outlets have speculated that Tesla might show off the system at the event in October, even though the company has not stated what the presentation will consist of.
The Roadster has had its launch postponed on more than one occasion since it was first introduced in 2017. Although production was initially aimed at 2020, the schedule has been altered on several occasions.
