Signature Solar, which is based in Texas, has opened a new retail and distribution facility in Reno, Nevada, making this the company’s first move outside of its home state.
In order to increase its position in the western United States and offer its customers in Nevada, Oregon, Washington and the adjacent states quicker and cheaper shipping, Sulfur Springs chose Northern Nevada.
The facility, which is situated at 6550 Longley Lane, functions as both a warehouse and a retail space that customers can access. It stocks solar panels, inverters, batteries, cables and other equipment for use with residential, off-grid and RV solar systems.
At the moment the majority of Signature Solar’s business is with residential customers, even though the company is also aiming to expand its commercial activities. The office in Reno enables customers to see the products face to face, have recommendations made for their systems, and receive help when designing or increasing their solar and battery storage systems.
Signature Solar does not carry out installations itself but is instead creating a network of regional installers and technicians to assist its customers. Among the products sold by the company, such as inverters and energy storage equipment, those are manufactured by its affiliate in Texas, Solar 76.
Once the facility is fully stocked and working at full scale, the Reno operation is expected to have about 20 warehouse workers, and company president Brian Pascoe stated that the expansion is bringing Signature Solar closer to its western customers as well as providing a physical location where people can learn about solar generation and energy storage.
The company also believes there are opportunities in remote areas prone to outages, since customers might use solar and battery systems for off-the-grid electricity, as backup power or instead of taking the expensive utility connections.
