Waymo’s self-driving taxi will soon offer more services across the Lone Star State

Waymo is gearing up for a major expansion in Texas, with its self-driving robotaxis set to begin operating in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio in the near future. The company already offers autonomous rides in five U.S. cities, including Austin, through Uber’s rideshare platform, but has announced it will soon extend service across several additional metros, including Miami and Orlando.

Dallas has been part of Waymo’s roadmap for months, with test vehicles regularly seen gathering data, mapping streets, and adapting to local traffic patterns. The company also began testing a fleet of 10 vehicles in San Antonio earlier this year. On Tuesday, Waymo officially confirmed that Houston and San Antonio have been added to its next wave of launch cities.

Waymo emphasized that it is working closely with community partners, local policymakers, regulators, and safety leaders to build trust and ensure that the public understands how its autonomous technology operates. Miami riders can already hail driverless rides as of Tuesday’s launch. The company says its fully driverless service will roll out across the remaining four cities, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Orlando, starting in early 2026.
