Amazon Opens New Last-Mile Delivery Hub in Brownsville

Amazon has expanded its Texas footprint with the opening of a 62,000-square-foot delivery station in Brownsville, strengthening logistics operations in the Rio Grande Valley.

Facility Details:

  • Size: 62,000 square feet.
  • Location: 13-acre site near FM 511 and Paredes Line Road.
  • Function: “Last-mile” delivery hub.
  • Significance: First Amazon facility of its kind in Cameron County.

The site is strategically positioned near Texas Toll Road 550, providing efficient access to regional transportation routes, including the Port of Brownsville.

Role in Amazon’s Network:

The facility handles the final stage of package delivery, where shipments are:

  • Received from fulfillment and sorting centers
  • Organized and loaded into delivery vehicles
  • Dispatched directly to customers’ homes.

This expansion is expected to speed up delivery times for customers across South Texas.

Regional Impact:

The Brownsville site represents:

  • Amazon’s second facility in the Rio Grande Valley
  • Continued investment in logistics infrastructure near the U.S.-Mexico border

The company also operates a nearby facility in McAllen, which opened in 2022.
